Patchwork Quilt (not-mine)

This one isn't mine..... but I really do like it..

Patchwork Quilt

Sew in the history of modern man?
What threads to use for faces damned?
And who amongst us could grip that edge,
Tucked under chin asleep in bed?
But colours brighten toward the centre part,
With vibrant reds for beating hearts,
And the good that man can really do,
A blazing centre sunburst of brilliant hues,
The threads made from our sinews,
The dyes, bloods, sweats and tears,
The flock filling from beautiful migrating birds,
Those birds that we now fear,
And when the quilt is finished,
What will its purpose be?
To hang in some great municipal hall,
In a souless and empty city
